Electrical Technician A

SUMMARY:

The Electrical Technician A is responsible for safely performing installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical/electronic components of utility equipment.  The duties are similar to an industrial electrician/motor control specialist. Electrical Technician A will perform specialized electric utility operations such as electric inspections, substation equipment inspections/maintenance, distribution switching, project planning, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
  • Four-year technical degree or any combination of training and experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities needed.
  • Experience working on electric and/or water utility systems if preferred. 
Licensing/Certification:
  • Class E Missouri Driver’s license, First Aid/CPR/AED first responder certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, and to read and interpret sketches, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of the practices, methods, tools, equipment, and materials of the electrical trade.
  • Deep understanding of local and national electrical codes.
  • Able to work with fellow employees and general public.
  • Skilled in use of electronic instruments.
  • Strong background with computer hardware and software applications.
  • Experienced in the layout and construction of industrial control panels and cabinets.
  • Knowledge of analog signaling systems and transducer operation.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75lbs.
Working Conditions:
  • Normal office environment and field construction sites; with some travel required.  

PAY RANGE:

  • Pay will be based on experience. $25-$35 per hour. Excellent benefits.

Field Service Representative

SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Meter Services Manager, accurately and efficiently read and record electric and water meters for billing purposes in all weather conditions under required deadlines. Change, test and maintain water meter inventory. Provide professional and prompt on-site customer service connecting/disconnecting, both electric and water meters. Assist customers with emergency calls inspecting down lines or water leaks. Responsible for a continuous flow of information between the office staff to coordinate workload. This is an on-call position, after hours work will be under the supervision of the Electric and Water Departments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
Licensing/Certification:
  • Possession of a valid Missouri driver’s license by hire date and obtain a Missouri CDL Class A with air brakes within 3 months of hire date.
  • Must obtain a Missouri DNR D or Water Distribution 1 License within 9 months of hire date.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently, organize work, set priorities, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the geography of the city and locations of electric and water meters.
  • Ability to work under adverse climatic conditions.
  • Ability to adapt to change, manage, and track, multiple tasks daily.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing while developing and maintain positive customer relations.
  • Ability to be on-call rotation including weekends and follow residency requirements.
  • Ability to interpret and apply safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be willing to get the job done, exercise sound judgement, inspire & mentor, and take ownership of your work.
  • Skilled in Microsoft office applications including spreadsheets, database, and word processing software, hand-held computer, and iPad.
  • Experienced with basic hand tools.
  • Ability to work effectively with Utility’s staff and the general public, applying customer service, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent bending and kneeling on knees to lift water lids and/or heavy vault lids to read and change meters.
  • Walking throughout the day in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds.
Working Conditions:
  • Outdoors working in various weather conditions including inclement weather, rain, extreme heat and humidity, ice and snow.
  • Normal office environment; some travel may be required. 
Other Requirements:
  • Must comply with all residence requirements according to CWEP policy.
  • Must be able to work successfully with diverse groups of people.
